The first month of 2018 I will be spending in Ghana visiting makers of beads, textiles and ceramics. I am interested in it all…

I will be back working for West Berkshire and Northampshire Open Studios in May at Folly Farm. I have been asked to participate in one of the Open Studios satellite exhibitions which will be at the Willis Museum in Basingstoke and I have applied to take part as a guest at the Whiteknights Trail around Reading’s university area in June. This should keep me busy for the first part of the year…

The Hampshire and Berkshire Guild are planning a mid-year exhibition. We are always hoping to find a good venue in Winchester….maybe this year!

Stockbridge with the Guild again towards the end of the year.

I am also hoping to do some clay workshops at Folly Farm and will post them here.

Andrew Hazelden and Ursula Waechter worked with Alan Caiger-Smith at the Aldermaston Pottery from the 1980s until the pottery closed in 2006. Alongside pieces by Alan, their work was bought enthusiastically by Christopher Lloyd and still decorates the house at Great Dixter with its exuberant brushstrokes and bold colours.

Richard’s feedback to the Corn Exchange:

“Just home from afternoons workshop. Had to write to tell you how much I enjoyed it. Excellently run by Ursula whose guidance was very reassuring but allowed us all to do our own thing. Really relaxing and just feeling I was improving when it was over - all too quick. May have found myself a new pastime! Congrats on a really enjoyable workshop.”
